Your body is composed almost entirely of proteins. Organs, cells, muscles and almost everything else in your body, is composed of proteins (except the water of course). The cells in your body are under constant attack from all types of threats – from viruses to pathogens to chemicals. Each one of these poses a different type of threat, but when a virus enters the body, it can take over cells and replicate. To prevent this, your body has an immune system, composed of different defenses.
The primary immune system responds to a threat, attacks it, and “fights off” the invader. There are several ways that your body does this. Another way it defense itself is by identifying the compromised cell and then destroying it. This secondary response contains what are known as anti-bodies and make it possible for your bodies defense system to eliminate the threat.
